Common questions

Is Steady really anonymous?

Yes, by default. When you use Steady without creating an account, we have no way to connect your data to you as a person. We generate a random device identifier on first launch — it's a string of characters, not your name or email. You can use the app indefinitely in this mode. If you create an account to sync across devices, we then have your email address, but nothing else changes about how your data is handled.

Will Steady share my data with my insurance, employer, or family?

No. We do not share your data with anyone except the services required to run the app — Anthropic (to generate coach responses) and Clerk (if you create an account). We do not sell data. We do not share it with insurers, employers, advertisers, or family members. We can't, in the anonymous mode, because we don't know who you are.

What happens if my phone breaks and I haven't signed in?

Your data is gone. We can't recover it because we never had it — it lived only on your device. This is by design. If you want to protect your history, use Settings → Export to create a backup file you control, or sign in to enable cross-device sync. There's no wrong answer here; it depends on how much you value portability versus privacy.

Can I use Steady alongside AA, SMART, therapy, or a sponsor?

Yes, and that's the intended use. Steady is designed to fill the gaps between professional support — the 11pm craving, the bus ride, the Sunday afternoon — not to replace it. The coach doesn't push any particular framework. If you tell Steady you're working the steps, it'll use that vocabulary. If you're doing SMART, same. If you're doing it your own way, that's fine too.

How is Steady different from a tracker app?

Most recovery apps are built around a streak counter. The streak model has a hidden flaw: when you have a hard day, you avoid the app, because opening it means confronting a number that's about to reset. That's the opposite of what should happen. Steady has no streak counter. There's nothing to lose. You open it when you need it — on the hard days, the craving days, the disappointed-in-yourself days — and it's there without judgment. The goal is to make opening the app feel safe, not costly.

What if the AI says something that doesn't feel right?

Trust that feeling. Steady is a language model, and language models can be wrong, incomplete, or tone-deaf in a given moment. If a response doesn't land right, you can say so directly — the coach will try again. If something feels genuinely harmful, please email us at support@dyeverse.co. We take that seriously and review every report.

Is there a free version?

Yes. Steady is free to use, with no time limit and no feature wall for the core experience: the coach, Urge Mode, daily check-ins, and full conversation history. The Pro tier ($9.99/mo or $69.99/yr) unlocks unlimited Overseer — the AI surface that reads your full history and surfaces patterns over time. Free users get 3 Overseer chats per day.

When will Steady be on iPhone?

Steady is launching on Android first, in early summer 2026. iPhone follows. We're building both simultaneously; Android is shipping first because the Play Store review process is faster for a first submission. If you want to know when the iOS version is available, email support@dyeverse.co and we'll let you know.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the Google Play app → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → find Steady Pro → Cancel subscription. You'll keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period. We don't offer refunds for partial months, but if you have an unusual situation, email us and we'll work with you.

How do I delete my data?

If you have an account: Settings → Delete Account. This deletes your email, your conversations, your check-ins, and your Overseer history. The only thing that persists is an anonymized crisis safety log entry (if any), with your user reference severed. If you're using Steady anonymously: uninstalling the app deletes everything, because everything was on your device.
